2010-2-24 Allreds Does Voluntary Recall on Baby Products

Allreds Design has issued a voluntary recall of baby bracelets and infant pacifiers, after problems were identified with high levels of lead, according to a prnewswire.com report. For major health concerns, lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

The recall includes Allreds Design brand baby bracelets and pacifier clips. The bracelets are sold in sizes 0-6 months, 1-4 years, and 4-8 years of age. The baby bracelets and pacifier clips have crystal and plastic beads in various colors with a metal clasp.

Allreds Design has received only one report of a 10-month-old child who was treated by a physician for elevated lead levels. Parents are advised to remove these items from their children and infants, and to contact Allreds for a replacement.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is still interested in receiving incident or injury reports that are either directly related to this product recall or involve a different hazard with the same product. Please tell them about it by visiting their website.

2010-01-05 New Warnings for a Popular Rub-on Pain Reliever
A federal agency has announced new warnings for all products containing diclofenac sodium, including Voltaren Gel, because the medications have been linked to reports of serious liver damage resulting in transplants and deaths. Voltaren is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, which is typically prescribed for osteoarthritis pain. Many favor Voltaren Gel over pills because it is thought to be less likely to cause stomach irritation and bleeding, and it has been lauded as a safer pain reliever, particularly for elderly patients. …more

2009-11-20 Vicks nasal spray recalled after bacteria found
The Procter & Gamble Co. has recalled some 120,000 bottles of Vicks Sinex nasal spray after the company found bacteria in samples during routine testing. The product has been recalled voluntarily after small amounts of the B. cepacia bacteria was found at the German plant where it's made. No illnesses have been reported yet, but the bacteria could harm people with chronic lung problems or weakened immune systems. …more
